Dunford Jr., chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, makes remarks during the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) 2017 Honor Guard Gala in Washington, D.C., April 12, 2017. Gen. Dunford served as the event’s keynote speaker where he spoke about the importance of the TAPS organization. During the event, the National Basketball Association and USA Basketball were awarded the inaugural National Community Partnership Award, presented for the support they have shown for the Nation’s military families and personal engagement with the surviving families of America’s fallen heroes.
