The departure ceremony for the Colorado National Guard’s Army Space Support Team 24, 117th Space Battalion, occurred March 2, 2014, in Colorado Springs, Colo. ARSST personnel deployed for approximately one year to provide space-based products and support to units serving in the Southwest Asia area of operations. The unit supported war fighters by monitoring and providing accurate, timely, and actionable terrestrial and space weather data – all of which contribute to situational awareness of the battlefield.
