PACIFIC OCEAN, Calif. - Marines with the Maritime Raid Force, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit conduct fast rope training during Amphibious Squadron-Marine Expeditionary Unit Integration in the hangar bay aboard USS AMERICA, April 9, 2017. The Marines practiced fast roping without any gear first, then the put on a full combat load to simulate a real-life insertion. The 15th MEU undergoes a rigorous unit-level certification cycle prior to deployment to ensure consistency and operational proficiency in in even the harshest conditions that may keep a helicopter from landing.
