PACIFIC OCEAN, Calif. - A Marine with Maritime Raid Force, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit fast ropes into the hanger bay aboard USS AMERICA during Amphibious Squadron-Marine Expeditionary Unit Integration, April 9, 2017. The Marines practiced fast roping without any gear first, then the put on a full combat load to simulate a real-life insertion. The 15th MEU undergoes a rigorous unit-level certification cycle prior to deployment to ensure consistency and operational proficiency in in even the harshest conditions that may keep a helicopter from landing.
