170410-N-WA993-093 YOKOSUKA, Japan (April 10, 2017) Boatswain’s Mate 3rd Class Luis Sanchez, from Las Vegas, applies a soft patch during pipe-patching training in the hangar bay of the Navy's only forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). The training was evaluated by Afloat Training Group, Western Pacific, as part of crew certification, an assessment of the crew’s ability to take the ship to sea and deal with emergencies. Ronald Reagan, the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 5, provides a combat-ready force that protects and defends the collective maritime interests of its allies and partners in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
