Hospitalman Chace W. Mechlinski with Command Element 31, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, delivers an intravenous needle during Combat Life Saver (CLS) training aboard the USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6), in the Pacific Ocean, March 31, 2017. Various corpsmen taught life-saving skills such as relieving a collapsed lung to delivering intravenous needle to Marines attached to Combat Logistics Battalion 31, 31st MEU as part of the MEU’s 17.1 Spring Patrol. As the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward deployed unit, the 31st MEU’s air-ground-logistics team provides a flexible force, ready to perform a wide range of military operations, from limited combat to humanitarian assistance operations, throughout the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
