ATLANTIC OCEAN (April 4, 2017) Aviation Machinist’s Mate 1st Class Trisha Smithson, from Bellevue, Neb., conducts a scheduled inspection of the engine of an F/A-18E Super Hornet assigned to the Sidewinders of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 86 in the hangar bay of the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) (Ike). Ike and its carrier strike group are currently underway conducting a sustainment exercise in support of the Optimized Fleet Response Plan (OFRP).
