SOUTH CHINA SEA (March 30, 2017) Cryptologic Technician 2nd Class Marie Beasley-Smith (left), from Cartersville, Georgia, and Damage Controlman Fireman Ari Rauda, from Rosenberg, Texas, read a poem to the crew during the diversity committee’s celebration of women’s history month aboard Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Wayne E. Meyer (DDG 108). Wayne E. Meyer is on a regularly scheduled Western Pacific deployment with the Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group as part of the U.S. Pacific Fleet-led initiative to extend U.S. 3rd Fleet command and control functions into the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
