U.S. Army Soldiers from the New Jersey Army National Guard listen to a safety briefing before starting a 12-mile timed ruck march during the 2017 New Jersey Army National Guard Best Warrior Competition on Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J., March 28, 2017. Eight Soldiers and eight NCOs are competing in the NJARNG’s Best Warrior Competition, Mar. 27-29, which features timed events, including urban warfare simulations, a 12-mile ruck march, land navigation, and the Army Physical Fitness Test. The top Soldier and NCO will go on to compete in the Region 1 Competition in April against National Guard Troops from the six New England states and New York. The Best Warrior Competition recognizes Soldiers who demonstrate commitment to the Army values, embody the Warrior Ethos, and represent the Force of the Future.
