PACIFIC OCEAN (March 25, 2017) Electrician's Mate Thomas Charleston, from Chicago, looks on as the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Lake Erie (CG 70) pulls alongside the Military Sealift Command fleet oiler USNS Carl Brasheer (T-AO 7) to conduct a replenishment-at-sea during a composite training unit exercise (COMPTUEX) with the Nimitz Carrier Strike Group in preparation for an upcoming deployment. COMPTUEX tests the mission-readiness of the strike group's assets through simulated real-world scenarios and their ability to perform as an integrated unit.
