The Coast Guard offloaded approximately 929 kilograms of cocaine March 21, 2017 in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands and another 400 kilograms of cocaine March 19, 2017 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The offloads come following two at sea interdictions by the Coast Guard Cutter Richard Dixon March 15, 2017, in international waters near Puerto Rico. The seized cocaine was estimated to have a wholesale value of $44.5 million dollars, while five suspected smugglers, all Dominican nationals, have been turned over to the U.S. Department of Justice for potential prosecution.
