Airman 1st Class Vincent Leal, 436th Security Forces Squadron response force member, uses a hand-held Defense Biometrics Identification System scanner to validate Common Access Card information of an individual entering the main gate March 17, 2017, on Dover Air Force Base, Del. A monthly average of more than 270,000 scans are conducted by 436th SFS personnel at the base’s three gates. Scheduled to be implemented in May of this year, new DBIDS 5.0 scanners will allow SFS personnel to check IDs more rapidly at all entry points. (U.S. Air Force photo by Roland Balik)
