AUSTIN – (March 20, 2017) Texas Governor Greg Abbott congratulates Joshua Suaseda of Bay City, Mich., after administering the Oath of Enlistment to future Sailors of Navy Recruiting District San Antonio at the governor’s mansion during Navy Week. Officiating the ceremony was Navy Vice Chief of Information Rear Adm. Robert Durand, who received a proclamation from the governor declaring March 18-24, 2017 as Navy Week. Texas’s capital is hosting members of the U.S. Navy during Austin Navy Week, March 18-24, coinciding with Rodeo Austin and Stock Show. Austin Navy Week is the 2nd of 15 Navy Weeks in 2017 which focus a variety of assets, equipment, and personnel on a single city for a weeklong series of engagements designed to bring America's Navy closer to the people it protects.
