Red Arrow Rock at Fort McCoy

An arrowhead-shaped boulder that was placed at an area on Fort McCoy’s North Post in 1992 is shown Feb. 6, 2017. It was placed in commemoration of a special rally point by leaders with the 32nd “Red Arrow” Infantry Brigade Combat Team of the Wisconsin National Guard. A placard on the monument reads, “The Hanging Tree — This rock signifies the location of the once famous ‘Hanging Tree — the rally point of the 32nd Red Arrow’ commanders. They assembled to receive their operation orders during many annual training periods throughout the years.” Nearly 25 years after the rock was placed at the site in June 1992, it still remains a fixture at Fort McCoy.
