170111-N-UF550-001 CHESAPEAKE BAY, Va. (Jan. 11, 2017) Several harbor seals were observed hauling out at the tip of a rock armor formation along the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel in Virginia. The lower Chesapeake Bay seal monitoring project, funded by U.S. Fleet Forces Command, is collecting valuable information and data on the occurrence and distribution of seals in the Mid-Atlantic region, where documentation on these marine mammals is lacking. The research project is being conducted under National Marine Fisheries Service GA permit no. 19826-00. (U.S. Navy photo by Danielle Jones/Released)
