Army Spc. James R. Pemberton, a West Alexandria, Ohio, native serving as a motor transport operator in the 498th Transportation Company, evaluates his accuracy with the M4 Carbine at a live fire range March 9, 2017, in Camp Blanding, Fla. Pemberton joined 11 other Army Reserve Soldiers in their quest to earn the top spot in the 143d Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) Best Warrior Competition. Conducted by the 143d ESC’s Headquarters and Headquarters Company, the three-day challenge included written essays, practical exercises and training simulations designed to push the competitors’ mental and physical limits.
