(Left) Corporal Jesse Thornton Jr, a native of East Saint Louis, Ill., visits with his father, Army Master Sgt. Jesse Thornton Sr and his mother Jamie, following the Marine’s performance as a member of the Silent Drill Platoon. The couple came in from Fort Irwin to see their son perform March 5. Because of windy conditions the Battle Color Ceremony involving the Commandant’s Own U.S. Marine Corps Drum and Bugle Corps was moved into the Semper Fit Gymnasium aboard Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, Calif. The performance drew about 400 spectators from all over Southern California.
