Lt. Col. Mark DeRocchi, deputy commander, dressed up as “Safety Man,” prepares to donate blood June 1 during the district’s 22nd Annual Safety Day at the headquarters building on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson JBER. The Blood Bank of Alaska held a mobile blood drive as part of a series of seminars and events hosted by the district’s Safety Office. Employees learned about topics such as back country recreation, bears, boating, earthquakes, fire, health and nutrition. Participants were able to fulfill their mandatory four hours of safety training as well.
