Seaman Emilia Castaneda, machinery repairman fireman, from San Fernando, Calif., measures the curve of a piece of bracketing metal on a milling machine in the welding shop on board the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan. Machinery repairmen perform organizational- and intermediate-level maintenance on assigned equipment requiring them to be skillful with many different pieces of machining equipment including lathes, milling machines, boring mills, grinders, power hack saws, drill presses, and many hand tools.
