MANAMA, Bahrain (Jan. 11, 2017) U.S. Marines and Sailors with the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group/11th Marine Expeditionary Unit take a break during a city tour in Manama, Bahrain, Jan. 11. The city tour includes a visit to a camel farm, the Al Fateh Grand Masque, Sweet Soque, Bahrain Fort, the Bahrain National Museum and an authentic Arabic lunch at Veranda Café. The tours provided by the USS Makin Island (LHD 8) Morale, Welfare and Recreation team enable the service members the opportunity to visit numerous venues around Bahrain during the Makin Island’s port visit. The Makin Island ARG/11th MEU is currently operating in support of regional security and stability in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations as part of their Western Pacific 16-2 deployment.
