MANAMA, Bahrain (Jan. 11, 2017) Mass Communication Specialist 2nd Class Dinnis Grube, with USS Makin Island (LHD 8) and Aviation Boatswain’s Mate 2nd Class Nicole Liskey, with Amphibious Squadron 5, pet a baby camel during a city tour in Bahrain Jan. 11. The tours provided by the Morale, Welfare and Recreation team aboard Makin Island enable the Marines and Sailors with the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group/11th Marine Expeditionary Unit to experience and understand the Bahraini culture during their port visit. The city tour includes a visit to a camel farm, the Al Fateh Grand Mosque, Sweet Soque, Bahrain Fort, Bahrain National Museum and an authentic Arabic lunch at Veranda Café. The Makin Island ARG/11th MEU is currently operating in support of regional security and stability in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations as part of their Western Pacific 16-2 deployment.
