Lt. Col. Damon Delarosa, commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District, news media and other visitors record the crane lift of the top sheave on Feb. 2, 2017 at the Ice Harbor Lock and Dam. The media event was held to help bring awareness to the community about the 2016-2017 Extended Navigation Lock Maintenance Outage by showcasing the associated Ice Harbor navigation lock gate hoist machinery upgrade. The upgrade includes replacement of the sheave shafts, pinion gears, ring gears, electrical wiring and operating controls in both lock gate towers.
