U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District's Construction Representative, Doug Deeter, plays a tune from his homemade ukulele made of materials found on his project site at the Paul S. Sarbanes Ecosystem Restoration Project at Poplar Island in Talbot County, Md on May 5, 2016. Poplar Island is a national model for beneficial use of of dredged material and utilizes dredge material in the Chesapeake Bay to restore environmental habitat. Deeter is the only Corps employee that physically works full time on Poplar Island and after 13 years of service for Baltimore District, all of which was spent on Poplar Island, Deeter will find a new place to call his second home come his retirement in September 2016.
