Full Immersion
Arabic students are learning to interview local nationals in the target language they are studying at the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center during an immersion training exercise at the Ft. Ord facility in Seaside, California.
The instructor, Mr. Ibrahim Marogy, pretends to be a local national as students try to gain information about his family and local village. During the immersion training exercise, students are secluded for up to three days and are only allowed to speak in their target language, while embracing the culture by dressing in national costume and eating local dishes.
