170110-N-TC437-9740 ARLINGTON, Va. (Jan. 10, 2017) Vice Adm. Tom Rowden, Commander, Naval Surface Forces, gives opening remarks at the 29th annual Surface Navy Association (SNA) National Symposium. Rowden is highlighting the new “Surface Force Strategy” which describes the return to sea control and implementation of Distributed Lethality. The objective of the Surface Force Strategy is to achieve and sustain sea control at the time and place of the Navy’s choosing in order to protect the homeland from afar, build and maintain global security, project the national power of the United States, and, if necessary, win decisively.
