Cpl. Steven E. Smith and Lance Cpl. Phil J. Navarrete collect a refueling hose Jan. 10, 2016, at the forward arming and refueling point at Ie Shima Island, Okinawa, Japan. The FARP is a temporary set up that rapidly arms and refuels aircrafts, allowing them to expedite the refueling process and to better operate in austere environments. Smith, from Ashland Park, Kentucky and Navarrete, from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, are bulk fuel specialists with Marine Wing Support Squadron 172, Marine Aircraft Group 36, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force.
