Photo 5 - In November 1941, a class of 58 Nisei and two Caucasian Soldiers began studying Japanese in a small school established in an abandoned airplane hangar within view of the Golden Gate Bridge at the Presidio of San Francisco. Today, that hangar is the home of the Military Intelligence Service Historic Learning Center, which pays tribute to Nisei Soldiers of World War II on Veterans Day each year.
