U.S. Marines with Company C, Battalion Landing Team 1st Bn., 4th Marines, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), take part in an unknown distance range as part of Exercise Alligator Dagger at Arta Beach, Djibouti, Dec. 13, 2016. During the unknown distance shoot, the Marines were assessed in their ability to engage downrange targets, sporadically placed at different distances and elevations up to 500 yards away. These training repetitions build the knowledge base and muscle memory the Marines may rely on in future combat situations. The unilateral exercise provides an opportunity for the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and 11th MEU to train in amphibious operations within the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
