A six-member team with backgrounds in force protection, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), and electronics prepare to launch a Persistent Ground Surveillance System (PGSS). The 22-meter long aerostat is filled with helium and provides surveillance at heights of up to 2,000 feet. A camera mounted on the underside produces full motion video directly fed into a forward operating base’s tactical operations center. PGSS have been successful in finding bomb makers and improvised explosive devices, as well as helping locate weapon caches. EC10 is an annual USJFCOM-led, multinational ISR demonstration that showcases emerging capabilities and provides lessons learned to improve joint and combined interoperability.
