Aomori residents and members of the Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force greet the crew of USS Vandegrift as the guided-missile frigate pulls pier side for a scheduled port call here. The visit is in commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the U.S.-Japan Mutual Security Treaty. While in port, Vandegrift sailors will participate in the Annual Nebuta Festival and will also offer ships tours for the local populace.
