PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. – A scan from at Leica C10 High Definition Survey Instrument depicts space between static aircraft displays at the Peterson Air and Space Museum in 2015. For an entire site survey, the laser scanner is moved throughout the location to capture all the data points and can be seen on the intensity scan as small circles. After the billions of data points are collected and compiled into a point cloud, the data can be revisited virtually by technicians for more information without ever having to go back to the site location.
