U.S. Marines hike to their objective during Korea Marine Exchange Program 17-1 Nov. 28, 2016 at Pohang, South Korea. Once reaching the objective the ROK and U.S. Marines would train together to complete a simulated mission. KMEP highlights the two countries' combined commitment to the defense of the ROK and our shared commitment to peace and security in the region. The U.S. Marines are assigned to 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment which is forward deployed from Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, to 3rd Marine Division, based in Okinawa, Japan.
