Chief Warrant Officer 5 Robert Wold, the outgoing command chief warrant officer of the New York Army National Guard (left), hands a ceremonial saber to Maj. Gen. Chief Warrant Officer 4 Jeffrey Schirmer took over command chief warrant officer duties during the ceremony. Schirmer, a Leicester N.Y. resident and a veteran of two wars, will be responsible for recruiting warrant officers to fill the 286 positions in the New York Army National Guard and overseeing warrant-officer training.
