Lance Cpl. Darrel Gunabe adds a postage sticker to a package during a field training exercise Dec. 9, 2016 aboard Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan. The exercise allowed postal Marines to simulate doing their job in a deployed environment, according to Chief Warrant Officer Isaias G. Rodriguez, director of Consolidated Postal System, Marine Corps Installations Pacific-Marine Corps Base Camp Butler. “We have a lot of equipment and shortcuts that we use in garrison,” said Rodriguez, a Sterling City, Texas, native. “This exercise forces the Marines to think outside the box in order to solve problems that otherwise wouldn’t exist.” Gunabe is a postal clerk with Headquarter and Support Battalion, MCIPAC-MCB Camp Butler, Japan.
