S.C. Army National Guard Staff Sgt. Edward Reed tasks Spc. Richard Braxton with security duties around a simulated-decontamination area, on Muscatatuck Urban Training Center, Jennings County, Ind., July 19, 2010. Reed and Braxton are members of the 4th Infantry Battalion, 218th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, and were part of a large-scale exercise with emergency response simulated-operations. The scenario was part of Vibrant Response 2010, a multi-agencies exercise simulating an emergency response effort to a nuclear detonation in urban environment, and involved, among others, the Consequence Management Response Force, a civilian-military deployable force created to respond to Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and high-yield Explosive disasters. The decontamination lane was manned by the the Soldiers of the 457th Chemical battalion.
