USS MAKIN ISLAND, Indian Ocean (November 24, 2016) Sgt. Maj. Anthony Vargas, the sergeant major of Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 163 (Reinforced), serves food to Marines and Sailors aboard the USS Makin Island (LHD 8), Nov. 24, 2016. Marines and Sailors came together to celebrate the holiday with a five kilometer “Turkey Trot”, followed by a Thanksgiving dinner later in the evening. The Makin Island Amphibious Group and embarked 11th MEU are currently operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet’s area of responsibility as it continues on its Western Pacific 16-2 deployment.
