U.S. Navy Lt. j.g. Christina Hammervold, Task Force Sparta platoon commander, assigned to the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa, runs a five-mile Army ruck march during the Joint Warrior Competition, Nov. 19, 2016, Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti. The ruck march began after participants had already completed a two-mile run, pull-ups, sit-ups, and push-ups. Members had to carry a minimum of 35 pounds during the march. Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa is a multinational effort to conduct theater security cooperation, combat violent extremism and enable freedom of movement within East Africa in order to defend U.S. interests and support aligned regional efforts.(U.S. Air National Guard photo by Staff Sgt.
