U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Juan Grisales, Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa, endures a five-mile Army ruck march during the Joint Warrior Competition, Nov. 19, 2016, Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti. The ruck march began after participants had already completed a two-mile run, pull-ups, sit-ups, and push-ups. Members had to carry a minimum of 35 pounds during the march. Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa is a multinational effort to conduct theater security cooperation, combat violent extremism and enable freedom of movement within East Africa in order to defend U.S. interests and support aligned regional efforts.
