Over 100 Chinese and Russian 82mm mortars were found, April 13, 2008 in Balkh province, Afghanistan as part of the Department of Defense Small Rewards Program. The SRP monetarily compensates Afghans for giving Coalition forces information leading to the recovery or destruction of weapons caches. These and other types of munitions are used by the Taliban and insurgents to target innocent Afghan civilians and members of the International Security Assistance Force. (U.S. Army photo/Staff Sgt.
