Honduran school children and U.S. Marines and sailors with Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force - Southern Command attend the opening ceremony of the finished wing of the Republica de Cuba School in Puerto Lempira, Honduras, Oct. 25, 2016. Building the new wing of the school was one of the many engineering projects the Marines and sailors of SPMAGTF-SC conducted while working alongside Honduran engineers during their six month deployment to Central America. The mission of SPMAGTF-SC is to build partner capacity and support regional security cooperation, further enabling our regional partners to provide security and prosperity to their citizens, and maintain a flexible and responsive force that can rapidly conduct humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations in the region in the event of a disaster or emergency.
