U.S. and other service members from Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa Civil Affairs team climb over obstacles during a mud run hosted by the French military in Djibouti, Djibouti, Nov. 6, 2016. The event allowed coalition forces from France, Japan and the United States to interact and build camaraderie while navigating a five kilometer course. The French 5th Marine Regiment team took first place. Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa is a multinational effort to conduct theater security cooperation, combat violent extremism and enable freedom of movement within East Africa in order to defend U.S. interests and support aligned regional efforts.
