MARINE CORPS BASE HAWAII – KANEOHE BAY, Hawaii (October 16, 2016) – Pfc. John Porter, a rifleman with Maritime Raid Force, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, fires his M4A1 rifle at targets during a close-quarters battle drill as part of a sustainment training exercise conducted at Marine Corps Base Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, during the 11th MEU’s Western Pacific 16-2 deployment, Oct. 16, 2016. The CQB drills refined the Marines ability to swiftly transition from rifle to pistol while still effectively engaging targets. This range also challenged the Marines to distinguish hostile targets from benign targets and effortlessly shift from one to the next. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Devan K. Gowans/Released)
