Members of the Eighth Army community participate in a National Hispanic Heritage Month observance at U.S Army Garrison Yongsan, South Korea, Oct. 14. National Hispanic Heritage Month is a 31-day period from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15 to celebrate the history, culture and contributions of Hispanic Americans. The observance was hosted by the 501st Military Intelligence Brigade with the theme of embracing, enabling and enriching America. The month-long observance started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 31-day period.
