Members of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force stand in formation with U.S. Marines Oct. 6 during the annual Guard and Protect, an observe and exchange event, aboard Camp Foster, Okinawa, Japan. The event provided U.S. service members and JGSDF service members with the opportunity to observe each other’s tactical maneuvers and operations to enhance the readiness of Japanese and American installations across Japan. The three-day event took place on U.S. military installations across Okinawa.
