Marines with Companies B and C, 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, simulate insertion behind enemy lines during a free-fall training aboard Camp Pendleton, Calif., Oct. 4, 2016. Marines participate in these exercises to maintain proficiency and stay current with their jump qualifications in preparation to deploy. 1st Marine Division is employed as the ground combat element of I Marine Expeditionary Force and provides the ground combat forces necessary for ship to shore forcible entry operations.
