The Bamyan Women's Community Center has the only heated, indoor laundry room in Afghanistan. The center was opened in early 2010 and was built by local businesses which help stimulate the economy. The center provided an alternative for local families, whom often had to travel far and through harsh weather to wash their clothes and dishes. During the frigid winter months, the women have to break through ice in the river to wash their clothes and dishes. The laundry room also has two private showers in the back.
