Environmental specialists from Naval Support Facility Indian Head, Md., work with researchers from the College of William and Mary to band an eagle for identification. The purple band shows the bird was banded in either Virginia or Maryland, while the silver band is a federal band coordinated by the Patuxent Wildlife Research Center. The effort is part of an initiative to keep the habitat safe for raptors.
