Rappel ropes descend a steep hill used for hasty rappelling Sept. 20, 2016 at Jungle Warfare Training Center in Okinawa, Japan. The hill is one of the many areas where Marines must demonstrate proficiency in tactical operations in the jungle environment. The training grounds stretch across more than 17,000 acres and is home to several rigorous courses through which Marines must navigate harsh terrain and climate-specific training in preparation for operations in the Asia-Pacific region.
