160921-M-KK554-557 MUSCAT, Oman (Sept 21, 2016) Marc Sievers, the U.S. ambassador to Oman, speaks to U.S. Navy officers from the amphibious transport dock ship USS San Antonio (LPD 17) during a non-combatant evacuation operation rehearsal with U.S. Marines from 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) on Sept. 21, 2016. 22nd MEU, deployed with the Wasp Amphibious Ready Group, is maintaining regional security in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations. The non-combatant evacuation exercise is an opportunity for the U.S. and Oman to practice a bilateral mission of quickly providing security and safety to U.S. and international citizens abroad during a natural disaster or contingency.
