Recruits from Golf Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, receive instructions from a drill instructor during pick up at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Sept. 16. Pick up is the first encounter the recruits have with the drill instructors who are charged with the responsibility of transforming the recruits into basically-trained Marines. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Golf Company is scheduled to graduate Dec. 9.
